Wellness Instructor
SUMMARY
The Wellness Instructor oversees the activities of participants in the Employee Wellness, Adult Wellness, and community health fair participation.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Assists clients with equipment and exercise prescription

Follow closely new and first time clients for at least one week

Follow up with established clients at least once a week
-
Keep the exercise area/equipment clean
-
Ensure an adequate supply of client towels, juice, and other client supplies
-
Perform preventive maintenance of equipment or call clinical engineering if necessary
-
Reviews client exercise cards, update if necessary; file cards
-
Conduct tests for Wellness evaluations on essentially well individuals who are at low risk for coronary artery disease
-
Adjust and write exercise prescriptions for same
-
Assists in coordination and implementation of community and corporate health activities
-
Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to the adolescent through geriatric clients
-
Ability to assess data reflective of the client’s status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each client’s requirements relative to his/her adolescent through geriatric needs
EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE
-
B.A. or B.S. in exercise science, kinesiology, or other health-related field preferred
-
ACSM Certification as Health Wellness specialist preferred
-
Personal Trainer Certification preferred
-
Ability to accurately assess vital signs (pulse and blood pressure)

Basic understanding of functional anatomy and training principle as related to:

Power – High intensity, short duration
-
Endurance – Low intensity, long duration
-

CPR certified, or certified within 30 days of hire

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

Heavy work as defined by the U.S. Department of Labor

Maximum lift of 25-50 pounds on a frequent basis, with a maximum lift of 50 -100 pounds on occasion ; ability to lift, push, pull, and/or move objects and equipment that fit within these weight categories

Standing, walking needed to move equipment

Work is predominately inside

Occasional traveling may be required.
