☕Coffee & Conversation☕
Did we miss you?
Last week, we gathered at MTS Townhouse for our very first Coffee & Conversation event!
If you weren’t able to join us — or if you’re already looking forward to the next one — we’ll be meeting at MTS Dulles April 17th from 8am-9am.
We’d love to see you there!
Here’s a quick recap from our time together:
☕ Our MTS Personal Trainers shared what personally motivates them, encouraging you to reflect on your own “why” behind your health and fitness journey.
☕ They talked about the importance of goal setting and how having clear, intentional goals help keep us focused and on track.
☕ They covered the benefits of working with a trainer and how their services can help both your mind and your body, in the gym and outside.
☕ And the Trainers created a quick, full-body workout to help you get started today.

We opened the floor to hear what topics you would like us to cover next time. Our goal is to be your number one resource for exercise, wellness, and everything in between. We can’t wait to continue the conversation in April!
If you have questions in regard to this event or events upcoming, reach out to a wellness staff member or call us at 337-571-1219.
🍏Healthy Habits🍅
Protein Beyond Meat
Complete Nutrition from Non-Meat Sources

Lenten season is upon us and for those who participate, it can be difficult to make sure you are consuming enough protein every day. Protein is really important as it is a primary fuel source for everything our bodies do! Aiding weight management, building and repairing our tissues, and supporting the regulation of our hormones. But how much is enough? General guidelines recommend for every kilogram of body weight, 0.8 grams of protein is necessary. So, for someone who weighs 75 kilograms (about 165 pounds), they should consume about 60 grams of protein per day. To find your weight in kilograms is just a simple equation. Take your weight in pounds and multiply that number by 2.2, and that will give you your weight in kilograms. Protein should account for 10-30% of your total calories for the day. Which means that although protein is very important, we cannot live strictly on chicken breast or steak. We must diversify and make sure our bodies are getting all the essential nutrients to feel and perform our best.
With vegetarian (a meatless diet) and pescetarian (a meatless diet allowing fish) meals being the focus of the season, we have outlined some ingredients that are high in protein but also offer other great essential nutrients to keep you going! Beans are a more commonly known protein source. Beans on average have about 7g of protein and 6g of fiber per serving size. Fiber is essential for the digestion of protein! Beans are a great substitute for meat in many recipes. Whey protein is another excellent option to add to your daily intake. A popular brand of premade protein shakes has 30g of protein and is packed with essential vitamins. These are great for in-between mealtimes for a quick boost of energy! Nuts are a great source to feel full and keep energy high. Nuts are great because of all the different kinds; there is something for everyone. Specifically looking at almonds, offering 6 grams of protein per serving and a rich source of vitamin E! Nuts can be added to desserts, eaten as a snack, or sprinkled over a salad or grain bowl. Chia seeds are yummy and easy to add to different dishes to get all those extra benefits. Chia seeds pack a punch with 6g of protein and 10g of fiber per serving, whilst also being a rich source of Omega-3 fatty acids! Chia seeds can be added to oatmeal, snuck into your favorite muffin mix, or be made into a creamy chia seed pudding! No one wants to be stuck eating a can of tuna every day for lunch! Try adding some of these ingredients to your favorite recipes or including them as snacks this Lenten season. You’ll be amazed how easy it is to fuel your body!
We did some of the hard work for you! Below we have four protein packed recipes for you to try this month, either vegetarian or pescetarian! Give these a try for a fun lunch or a tasty dinner! Click the link to get to the recipe!
