Bring your friends or family members to MTS for FREE!
From October 5th through the 17th, YOU as a member will be able to bring ONE guest with you each day for the duration of the two weeks. Your friend can come as many times as they like during that time but only once per day and they must be accompanied by a current member at all times. (Example: You may only attend strength and balance once per week during this opportunity with a guest.)

Now, there is a reward available for our current members! If a guest decides that after trying our facilities that they would like join as a member, and they join BEFORE November 1st, the member who referred them will receive the month of November for free! Encourage your friends to sign up so that you can get a free month of membership! Only the month of November will be free regardless of how many of your friends join before November 1st. If your friend joins as a member on or after November 1st the reward will not be available but at least you get to hang out with your buddy at the gym!
🩷breast cancer awareness🩷
During the month of October, we work to bring awareness around Breast Cancer. Unfortunately, this disease can affect anyone no matter who they are or where they live. Whether you fight the disease or you know someone who does, it is a horrible disease. Research shows that 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime.
But there are actionable things you can do to help.
1. Know Your Risk. Talk to your doctor about family history of Breast Cancer. This helps to make a plan that works for you.
2. Get Screened. If you are at average risk, once you turn 40 years old, you should have a mammogram every year. This helps catch early signs of the disease before it progresses too far.
3. Lifestyle Choices. You can lower your risks of all cancers by eating a healthy diet, exercising regularly, and limiting alcohol intake.

Pumpkin fun

When we think of October, we think of Halloween, pumpkins, going to the corn maze, and so many other fall activities. We start to see Pumpkin spice this or that on every menu around, often associating the flavor with being sweet, unhealthy, or even unappetizing to some. You might even first think about pumpkin pie. But pumpkin is so much more than a flavored latte or a nauseatingly sweet dessert. But pumpkin actually has tons of health benefits and here's why you should be eating it ALL month long.
-Pumpkins are high in antioxidants like carotene and beta-carotene. These may help to protect against certain cancers.
-Pumpkin a good source of vitamin A. This helps to promote eye health.
-Pumpkin is known to help reduce inflammation and to maintain normal blood pressures.
-Pumpkin is high in fiber! About 7 grams of Fiber per 1 cup of pureed pumpkin.
Pumpkin can be used in SO many different ways from sweet to savory, or breakfast, lunch, dinner, or dessert! Try out this savory pasta dish with the best creamy pumpkin sauce!
Pumpkin Pasta- from Brittany at Eating Bird Food
Ingredients
- 16 oz pasta, I used rigatoni
- ½ cup salted butter
- 12 fresh sage leaves
- ½ yellow onion, chopped (about 1 cup)
- 3 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1 cup unsweetened almond milk
- ½ cup vegetable broth, I used low-sodium
- 1 15 ounce can pumpkin puree
- 1 teaspoon sea salt, plus more to taste
- ½ teaspoon black pepper, plus more to taste
- ½ cup shredded parmesan cheese, plus more for serving
- 2-3 cups fresh baby spinach
- For serving: pepitas, fresh sage, fresh parmesan cheese, cracked black pepper
Instructions
1. Cook pasta according to package. Drain and set aside in large pot.
2. While pasta is cooking, add butter and sage leaves to a large saucepan or Dutch oven over medium low heat, stirring often. One butter starts to bubble, stir constantly for about 8-10 minutes until butter browns and turns a deep amber color. Remove sage leaves from butter and place on a separate plate. Set aside for later.
3. As soon as you remove the sage leaves from the pan immediately add onion to saucepan and saute for 4-5 minutes until onion is fragrant and translucent. Add garlic and saute for 1-2 more minutes. Be careful not to burn garlic!
4. Slowly add almond milk, veggie broth, pumpkin puree, salt and pepper and whisk to combine. Bring mixture to a simmer.
5. Once pasta is cooked and drained add to sauce mixture and stir to combine.
6. Stir in sage leaves, parmesan cheese and spinach until spinach has wilted.
7. Serve immediately topped with pepitas, shredded parmesan, fresh sage leaves, and cracked black pepper.
